The Confederate Cemetery in Tullahoma is connected to the Maplewood Cemetery.  I grew up about a mile from these cemeteries.  While I was there last summer, I went by and took some photographs at both cemeteries.

September 26, 2008:  I'm adding more photos from my last trip back to Tullahoma.  There have been some monuments added since my last visit.  (See newspaper articles below).  The photos are:

Monument for the fallen soldiers from Alabama
Monument for the fallen soldiers from Florida
Monument for the fallen soldiers from Tennessee

UPDATE September 26, 2008:  The following photos were taken out front of the old South Jackson Elementary School.  It is now the Tullahoma Civic Center.  These markers have been  there for a couple of years so I thought I should probably add them here.  One of them mentions the Tullahoma Confederate Cemetery.

UPDATE October 10,  2003:  I went back to the Tullahoma Confederate Cemetery and took more photos of the cemetery.  Here are the ones that I took

Although not at the Confederate Cemetery, the building that was used for a hospital is only blocks away from the cemetery.  I stopped by there and took photos of the building.  It is now the Tullahoma Fine Arts Building.  The house on the right was not orginal to the hospital.

From the Tullahoma New on July 9, 2008:

  Bronze Memorial to be Dedicated
The Tullahoma Confederate Association will dedicate a bronze memorial to the Tennessee Confederate soldiers buried at the Tullahoma Confederate Cemetery July 26 at 8:15 p.m.
It will also be dedicated to the prisoners of war and civilians of the area who were killed by the Union Provost Marshals. Luminaries will be lighted to represent each of the Tennessee soldiers, POWs and civilians.
Very shortly after the close of the monument dedication, a candlelight vigil will be held for those people killed and buried in the cemetery. The public is invited to attend.
Those attending should bring a lawn chair. The event will include women in period clothing, Confederate infantry and artillery and the night firing salute of Civil War type guns.
The event is sponsored by the Tullahoma Confederate Association, Camp 72 Sons of Confederate Veterans and Kirby-Smith Chapter #327 U.D.C.

From the Tullahoma News on February 29, 2008:

52 Florida confederate soldiers to be memorialized at cemetery

The Florida United Daughter of the Confederacy and the Florida Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will honor 52 Florida confederate soldiers who died between Oct. 30, 1862 and April 1863 and are buried at the Tullahoma Confederate Cemetery on Maplewood Avenue at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5.
The monument will be dedicated by Florida UDC president Ann Brown with other officers and members from state of Florida and throughout the south planning to attend.
The Tennessee Confederate organization will be supported by Kirby-Smith 327, Cheatham SCV Camp 72 and Tullahoma Confederate Association’s 500 members, Winstead’s 3-gun Artillery Battery and 8/16 Confederate Infantry re-enactors.
Tennessee Division Commander Dr. Michael R. Bradley will be the speaker for the event.
The 1st and 3rd Florida Infantry joined Bragg’s Army and participated in the Kentucky Campaign. They returned to Tennessee for the Battle of Murfreesboro and were joined by the 4th Florida Infantry. After retreat from Murfreesboro they camped around Tullahoma from early January until late April; many died in one of Tullahoma’s many Civil War hospitals from illness and diseases aggravated by cold, wet and dreary cloudcovered skies. Many from warmer, sunnier part of the south had not adjusted to the harsh winter in Tennessee.
The Tullahoma Confederate Association, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Sons of Confederate Veterans, invite the public to the free event. Light refreshments will be served. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs. United Daughters of the Confederacy will be dressed in period clothing, and re-enactors will appear in Confederate Army uniforms to provide a salute to the Florida soldiers.
